Ultimate Saruin is NOT 10FS Saruin. The ultimate one has a purple aura all over its body. 10FS Saruin is not surrounded by the aura. In summary, there are three types of final bosses in Romancing Saga Minstrel Song Remastered.
- Normal Saruin
- Saruin the True Power (=10FS Saruin)
- Ultimate Saruin ※ The strongest one
As you know, Ultimate Saruin is the strongest boss of this game. 10FS Saruin is weaker than the ultimate one.
To attempt the ultimate trial, all you have to do is defeat all Sanguine superbosses in the quest “The Secret to End All Secrets“. Afterwards, offer up all fatestones to the alter in the final dungeon again. Then, you can fight against Ultimate Saruin. The condition is met if all 10 Sanguine superbosses are defeated in your previous playround. It is perfectly fine to defeat them in your current playthrough.
It will take a lot of preparation to defeat Ultimate Saruin. It has higher HP and attack power than the 10FS Saruin. It is likely that this boss’s other stats have also been increased. The boosted boss will attack up to four times in a turn. Its attack pattern has not changed, but the damage has increased. You will need to be well-prepared. The strongest Saruin probably has over 100,000 HP. It is likely that it will take about an hour to defeat Ultimate Saruin.
Preparation
This section will provide information on the preparations required to defeat Ultimate Saruin.
Weapon & Armor
Defender (Farangi) | I’ve customized the Farangi with Stonefish scales, increasing its DP Modifier to +2. Stonefish scales also negates the boss’s water-attribute spell. The reason I am raising the DP Modifier to +2 is to prevent the DP from being reduced by the skill “Still Blade”. Since her Rosalian Officer’s class level is 6, DP will not decrease using the skill. |
Donkey Bone | I have also increased Donkey Bone’s DP Modifier to +3, in addition. Similarly, this is to prevent DP from being reduced by skill “Grand Slam“. |
Claymore | This is a two-handed sword with a DP Modifier of +4. If your Castle Knight’s class level is 6, you will not lose DP when using the skill “Vandalize“. |
Malystrix | Malystrix is equipped to cast fire spell “Revive“. Blazing Sword or Flamberge can be used in place of this weapon. |
Yucomb’s Trident | Yucomb’s Trident is equiped to cast water spell “Healing Water” and “Holy Water“. |
Elemental Staff | Elemental Staff increases fire, thunder, and ice resistance, which reduces magic damage from Saruin. If you are concerned about the boss’s paralysis magic attack, changing to Shooting Star will increase the chances of resisting the paralysis attack. |
Bejeweled Shield | Bejeweled Shield is the strongest one in this game. I equip it to all party members. |
Mystic Stone Mask | Mystic Stone Mask prevents being put to sleep by the skill “Mind’s Shadow”. |
Field Plate (Increased PHY DEF) | This armor has PHY DEF of 54. It is best equipped for the front and middle line members. |

Cyril’s Bracers prevents curse status. It is sold in Crystal City, so let’s buy it for everyone. |
Greaves of Titus | Grants immunity to terrology. |
Talisman | Grants immunity to instant death. |
Dragon’s Eye | Grants immunity to charm, berserk, confusion, and fear. Schiele can equip it after offering the Fatestone “Diamond”. |
The weapon is up to you, but it is a good idea to choose one that you can do combos with your party members. Also, it is useful to grant immunity to hydrology on the weapon you choose. If you can also add poison resistance, that would be perfect.
Technique (Battle Skill)
Grand Slam (Club) | Start an earthquake, then strike all enemies once it hits. Sometimes prevents enemy rushes. Using this skill once will break two pillars. |
Vandalize (Two-handed Sword) | Unleash overwhelming force right in the enemy’s face. This skill is the technique that can do combos with other party members easily. |
Resonance Edge (Long Sword) | Increase the effectiveness of your slash via rapid oscillation. This skill is a defense mode skill, so if you are class “Rosalian Officer”, your defense will increase during the turn you use this skill. |
Still Blade (Long Sword) | Slowly build up internal strength, launch it at the enemy, and cause it to explode. This skill is a defense mode skill, so if you are class “Rosalian Officer”, your defense will increase during the turn you use this skill. This skill cannot be deflected. |
Upper Smash (Two-handed Sword) | Rotate your entire body, then unwind to pulverize anything you hit. This skill is the technique that can do combos with other party members easily. |
Zapper (Bow) | Fire an arrow into your enemy with great malevolence. |
Phoenix Arrow (Bow) |
Imbue your arrow with the essence of your soul to steal HP from the enemy. |
Blitz (Foils) | A strike of blistering speed. Quick recovery. This skill is the technique that can do combos with other party members easily. |
Kaleidoscope (Foils) |
An attack to disorient your enemy followed by a flurry of strikes. A multi-hit attack is less likely to be deflected. |
Jackhammer (Martial Arts) |
Put all your weight into a powerful throw. Sometimes stun. This skill cannot be deflected. |
Second Wind (Martial Arts) | Focus your internal energy to restore HP. |
Spell
Revive | Automatically revive the next time you fall in battle. |
Healing Water | Restore a comrade’s HP. |
Holy Water | Cleanse one comrade of all status ailments. |
Armor Blessing | Enhance a comrade’s Defense (DEF) with magic. |
Moonbeam | Restore a comrade’s HP and remove Willpower (WIL) status ailments. It heals more HP than Healing Water. |
Song of Souls | This is a Triple synthesis spell. Cause comrades’ HP to slowly regenerate. |
Hasten Time | This is a Triple synthesis spell. Alter the fabric of time to end the turn. Your entire party can act while time is frozen. |
Overdrive | This is a Triple synthesis spell. Alter the fabric of time to end the turn. It can still act while time is frozen. This spell performs the following three actions: ・It forces the current turn to end. ・It allows the caster to act five times in the next turn. ・It prevents all other characters from acting. |
It is recommended to prepare the following items or something before the battle.
・Chalice
(Using this item will fully restore the BP of all party members.)
・Phantom Warrior
(Phantom Warrior does not consume items or DP when it uses them. If you are going to use Chalice, it is also a good idea to be able to use the spell.)
・Your Special Combo

The party members are up to you, but members with high MAX LP or Recovery BP are more suitable.
Claudia
Claudia is placed in the front line. As you can see from the image, her stats are sufficient to defeat the game’s strongest boss. Just to let you know, her MAX LP has increased by 2 after completing the Faerie’s Grove quest. I set her class “Rosalian Officer” to withstand the boss’s powerful attacks. In the first round, she attacks with “Still Blade“. This is because it cannot be deflected by the boss. Additionally, she can attack while in defense mode, so her defense will increase during the turn she uses this skill. In the second round, she is responsible for breaking the pillar using her skill “Grand Slam“. As she is the starting point for the combo, I will specify the order of action and attack first.
Barbara
I set Barbara’s class “Castle Knight” because it increases the chance of deflect. Saruin has powerful physical attack skills such as Sword of Saruin, Empty Glimmer, Immortality, Obsidian Slash, and Deus Ex Machina. In the first round, she will attack with “Still Blade“. This is because it cannot be deflected by the boss. In the second round, she attacks with “Vandalize” to do combos. However, after the boss’s warming up is over, she switches to “Still Blade” to focus on deflecting attacks. She is assigned to the middle position. This is to establish the cooperation between the front, middle, and back positions.
Aldora
As Aldora’s Max LP is low, she equips “Mirsa’s Armor” to deal with the boss’s LP attacks. Considering her feelings, it would be good to let her wear this armor. Anyway, I set her class “Rosalian Officer” because she can attack in defending mode and can take a beating from the boss. Also, she was placed in the back row. In the first round, she attacks with the skill “Still Blade” of the Long Sword. In the second round, she will change to the skill “Resonance Edge” for a combo. When Claudia’s BP is not enough, she uses the skill “Grand Slam” instead to break the pillar.
Schiele
Schiele is in the class “Rosalian Officer” and is placed in the back row too. In general, she attacks with the skill “Still Blade“. In the second round, it is important to keep all party members in Revive state. Therefore, she also has the role of casting “Revive“.
The Minstrel
I added The Minstrel to the party because I thought he should fight against Saruin for the story. He is not necessarily essential to the final party. Since he has one fewer weapon slot than other characters, you may want to consider adding another member to the party.
He is in the class “Rosalian Mage” and is placed in the back row. He is a healer and uses spells “Healing Water” and “Song of Souls” to restore the HP of party members. Song of Souls is a Triple synthesis spell. When the party members’ HP is not in danger, it is recommended to use the spell “Armor Blessing” to increase their defense. In the second round, maintaining the Revive state is the key to victory. He prioritizes casting “Revive“.
Strategy
In this section, I tell you about the strategy necessary to defeat Ultimate Saruin.

The attack patterns of Saruin do not change in the ultimate trial. However, their power is even greater. The Saruin’s skill “Empty Glimmer” is powerful, so we’ll only have one tank. Its other attacks are also all instant kill. Keep your party member’s HP high. The boss’s other skills “Sword of Saruin“, “Immortality“, and “Obsidian Slash” can also deal lethal damage, so be careful. If party members are defeated, be sure to recover immediately. It will be too late to heal after they are animated. Its deflect rate is also high, so attack with skills that cannot be deflected. Also, multi-hit attacks like the skill “Kaleidoscope” are less likely to be deflected. In both its initial form and second form, the boss’s spell “Ice Illusion” inflicts paralysis. This is a nuisance, so be sure to use Holy Water to recover quickly. This boss fight will be a long one. It’s better to get them back as quickly as possible rather than waiting for natural recovery. While equipping the excellent anti-paralysis gear “Faerie’s Crown”, it may become difficult to counter the sleep effect of the boss’s second form Mind’s Shadow.
In the video, the party members are attacking with the skill “Still Blade”. This skill is a defensive mode, so a class Rosalian Officer’s defense will increase while they are using it. Additionally, the skill is a Long Sword, so it has a chance to deflect enemy attacks. The skill can be said to be a skill that combines offense and defense. It’s always a good idea to try to deal as much damage as possible with combos.

When the Saruin’s form changes, it’s the second round. The Ultimate Saruin’s second form skill “Deus Ex Machina” is incredible. It’s difficult to survive being hit by this skill. A high-defense class Rosalian Officer character may be able to survive, but other classes will almost certainly die. Even a low-defense character will die. The boss will use this skill up to four times per turn. Even if you are defeated by this skill, you will immediately get up if you are in a Revive state. So, let’s cast the spell “Revive” on everyone. However, the boss’s spell “Dark Nebula“, “Maelstrom“, will remove the Revive state of everyone. Be especially careful after the boss casts these spells. The skill “Deus Ex Machina” can be deflected, so let’s pray that it gets deflected. If your party members are defeated, the boss will likely use the skill “Animate” on your fallen ones next turn. The boss is also very fast, so it is important to avoid being defeated in battle as much as possible.
In the second round, 19 pillars reduce the amount of damage and HP recovery you deal. You can break one pillar with each of your attacks. First, break all the pillars. It is convenient to use the skill “Grand Slam” of the club, which can break two pillars in one attack. You can also break pillars with combo damage. So, let’s try to do combos as much as possible. In the above video, I was trying to execute the following 4-hit combo. Grand Slam > Vandalize > Resonance Edge > Still Blade I didn’t get the 4-hit combo very often, but I was able to break the pillars with relatively frequent 3-hit combos. Of course, other combos are also fine. I guess you can win without using combos, but you will deal less damage to the strongest boss and the battle will take longer.
Be careful when you hear the line “I’m through warming up …… ” from Ultimate Saruin. After that, its skill “Deus Ex Machina” will be used more frequently. It’s possible for the boss to use that skill four times in a row. In fact, there’s an instance in the above video where it does exactly that. We need to make sure we can survive even if that happens.
